kalbadevi walk

old town planning schemes with their colonial frills separate the inner city from the glamour of the metro cinema. and then as you move northwards you are back in the landscape of the wadis.

the wadis of kalbadevi are not as pastoral as the ones in girgaon. the density of kalbadevi road making them more 'urban'. a large hall overlooks a courtyard and along the way older wells are enclosed within the buildings.

swadeshi market connects two streets along the way, while kalbadevi temple stands on the mad main road dwarfed by sound and fury of the markets around.

girgaon walk

through the wadis- large empty quiet courtyards just a minute away from the chaos of jagannath shankaer sheth road. an old temple enclosed within an enormous apartment block. the shikhara still rises adamantly rammed between the high rise while the lower part of the apartment block is turned into a marble clad lobby with chinese made wind chimes in the windows.

as you walk south towards marine lines railway station, more high rises shoot their way up until you get to the chandanwadi crematoriums and graveyards.
