london: panoramas

the aerial view. the most spectacular is the eye. glass capsules that perpetually rotate and show us south bank, Westminster, hapstead heath in the distance, the tower of london, the group of skyscrapers in the city of london, and even, if the map is to be believed, greenwich in the far distance. the second is from st pauls. this time miri was with us after we met chaitra, anushka and natasha on the steps. past the gigantic dome and following the spiralling stairs up to the whispering gallery, trying to send 'hello's from one end of base of the dome to the other; up to the next level- where the city can be seen through the high banisters; and then to the final level by climbing a series of steps in between the two domes for more views across the city and closer to the new jean nouvel where we had met sachin, insiyah, abbas, chintan, pragya- my first experience of london starchitecture. the third panorama was from the tower of london, from the galleries that span between the two towers, while going through an exhibition cataloguing the design and engineering of the tower. later you spent time in the base of the tower watching replicas of the early machinery that lifted the gate.
