this city is always under re-construction. from the cranes that rise above slums making vertical what is now horizontal to canvas wrappers around old rcc buildings as they resurface them. if this was somewhere else, those wrappers would be theorized as secondary skins- sensual surfaces that play hide and seek between the inside and the outside. thanks god, no one speaks like that here yet. or do they? i have heard more than one architect rave about the “textures” of dharavi. and some of them claim to have critical practices.
