manoj is passionate and terrific at flying kites. in santacruz the terraces were full of veg food with drinks parties and men with bleeding fingers- manoj's included. we took turns pretending we were flying too only after manoj had done the hard work of lifting the kite into the sky. in the evening when the vodka came out around us still lanterns with lights lifted into the sky and fireworks exploded over vile parle.
Being a dyed-in-the-wool kite person myself (see the link above), am really enjoying the flood of blog posts from India at this time of year! Those photos capture the location and atmosphere of the kite-flying (+ festivities) well. One day I'll make and fly an unstable Fighter kite just for the experience of it. Over here in South Australia.

Aah, missed it this time. Teja ditched us, and went off to Surat to fly kites alone.
sounds absolutely lovely :)
