new years 2008

another new years day. this one started off in a circle of friends over tea and poha in njoy resort at palghar, unlike the past two. then it was a balcony over borivili east with the leftover remains of a party littered around us. this time the annual party at mukuls was foregone in favour of the wedding celebrations of rupali and prasad. the wedding was recreated for the benefit of those who could not attend the previous night before the general partying took over around a campfire with hastily organised garlands, much to rupali's visible annoyance. vinesh took over the music with repeated krazy kiya re’s and we grooved to vodka and tequila (courtesy prajna and prasad) around a lighted stump of a tree. a perfect prop for prajna and me to pine away with 'pardesi'. it reminded me of the gorai parties we used to have in another lifetime with john and shyam. earlier we had, after searching for the place for over three hours, being un-addressed and later misled by neha’s forest fixation, we swam in the two pools of the resort. one with three jest of water to rub our back and the other with a buddha spouting water out of his mouth and a water umbrella. there was a water slide too. great fun.
