A soap opera melodrama western with Joan Crawford as sexual woman in trousers, red/yellow shirts and trousers, running a saloon called ‘vienna’s with a bow tie on, facing off against prim matron jealous of the other’s power but wielding her own sanctimony like a sword. Never have the men been more disposable in a traditionally male genre- even the titular hero. And the colours! How gorgeous, how camp.
