Monstrous lives at the edge of civilisation- it’s mirror, staring into the abyss where we all become monsters, when the state becomes a murderer, a day in the life of the hangman with his hard headed calculations, his bravado, his performance for the cameras in his tiny room, the frenzy of the media and the expectations of us and the filmmaker casting judgement, distributing sympathy as a state-of-the-world nightmare. There is no respite here.
