the mayor of taichung is keen on turning the city into a global city through architecture. hoping for a bilbao effect to turn the economy around. on the cards is an opera house by toyo ito- the prestige project under construction right now and the future is going to see a 'taiwan tower' by sou fujimoto.. but for now there is a new airport, an extended art museum, a new glass box town hall and a swirling facade of a library.
