yi lan - huang sheng yuan - the forest and the railway station

older japanese built railway warehouses have been hollowed out to make a walkway of museums and art galleries, restaurant and public space. the patina of the old is allowed to form the aesthetic- a romantic yearning that i fell for because glass canopies floated through the shells allowing the falling leaves from trees to collect on them and create gentle patterns on the walls. where these walkways meet at the railway station giant spring onions form a forest over a red brick landscape for bicycles to be parked. a small house is sheltered beneath that is now a cafe too.
