Straddling the banks of the Jhelum, connected by bridges across, the city crumbles away. At Zaina Kadal the monuments line the river; at Habba Kadal between the abandoned pandit houses the loudspeakers from the mosques overlap prayers in kashimir and urdu/hindi.
