High Rise. Ben Wheatley. 2015.

The period is the 1970’s as the future- a future past. Somewhere along the middle the neat storytelling breaks down into a fragmented spiral of madness paralleling the breakdown of the architect’s vision of utopia, where the rich live on the top floor and the poor families down below. He manages to rationalise the descent into dystopia as an experiment in what life does to well made plans- plans for people who are “thriving like an advanced species in the neutral atmosphere” in a series of buildings laid out like an open hand, “with a lake as the palm and the high-rise on the distal phalanx of the index finger.“
