All those bathhouses and bathrooms in another wonderfully preposterous premise in a manga turned feature which connects bath houses from Hadrian’s Rome to Contemporary Japan through the porthole under the water with Italian opera singers that deliver the background score. An architect makes these journeys into the future and returns with fancy new ideas including bubbles in a bath, outdoor pools, shower heads and even tropical forests for the emperors pet crocodile. He is tormented by this borrowing and suspects that he may be a talentless hack until the flat faced woman from the future explains post modernist references to him.
